Saksa on maailman suurimpien aseviejämaiden kolmannella sijalla. Vuonna 2012 Saksan sotatuotteille myöntämien vientilupien kokonaisarvo oli 4,7 miljardia euroa, noin 700 miljoonaa vähemmän kuin edellisenä vuotena. Maan juuri työnsä aloittaneen hallituksen ministerit ovat linjanneet äskettäin, että asevientipolitiikkaa on tiukennettava ja ulkopolitiikassa alettava kantaa suurempaa vastuuta.
