Vuoden 2015 loppupuolella Suomeen tuli ennätyksellinen määrä turvapaikanhakijoita. Yli 32.000 kriisialueilta tullutta ihmistä haki turvaa Suomesta. Tilapäisiä majoituspaikkoja avattiin eri puolille maata, ja tiedotusvälineet kauhistelivat, että kuinka tästä selvitään.
